Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2½ teaspoons fresh cracked black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce, your favorite brand
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°F.
  • Mix together the spice rub ingredients.
  • Prepare the ribs by removing the membrane on the underside.
  • Place ribs bone side up on aluminum foil and season with spice rub.
  • Wrap the ribs securely in foil and bake for about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Mix barbecue sauce with light brown sugar.
  • Open the foil, coat ribs with barbecue sauce mixture, and broil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Removing the membrane ensures better flavor absorption.
