- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 3/4 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 6 brioche hamburger buns
- Softened butter or mayo for brushing (optional)
- 6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Split the buns, brush cut sides with butter or mayo, and toast for 5 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté beef, onions, and green peppers until browned.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Whisk together beef broth, cornstarch, and bouillon; pour into skillet.
- Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and spices. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
- Assemble the buns with the beef mixture and top with provolone cheese.
- Bake for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
