  • ½ tsp EACH salt, pepper, dried basil, paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 brioche hamburger buns
  • Softened butter or mayo for brushing (optional)
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Split the buns, brush cut sides with butter or mayo, and toast for 5 minutes.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté beef, onions, and green peppers until browned.
  • Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Whisk together beef broth, cornstarch, and bouillon; pour into skillet.
  • Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and spices. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Assemble the buns with the beef mixture and top with provolone cheese.
  • Bake for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
