- 2 medium chicken breasts
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornstarch (or more flour)
- 1 teaspoon EACH: cayenne, garlic powder, salt, black pepper
- ½ cup frying oil (or melted butter)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cayenne powder
- ½ teaspoon EACH: chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder
- 4 burger buns (buttered and toasted)
- Coleslaw
- Mayonnaise
- Pickles
Instructions
- Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally.
- Whisk buttermilk and hot sauce in a bowl.
- Mix flour, cornstarch, and spices in another bowl.
- Dredge chicken in flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, then back in flour.
- Heat oil in a pan to 350ºF and fry chicken for about 6 minutes.
- Mix hot cooking oil with sugar and spices for Nashville Hot Sauce.
- Baste fried chicken with hot oil mixture.
- Assemble sandwiches with mayonnaise, chicken, coleslaw, and pickles in toasted buns.
