- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon honey (for egg wash)
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water and instant yeast, letting it sit until frothy.
- Mix wet ingredients including honey, oil, and eggs into the yeast mixture.
- Gradually mix in salt and flour until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1-2 hours until doubled.
- Divide risen dough into three portions and braid them together.
- Let the braided dough rise for another 30-45 minutes on a baking sheet.
- Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare egg wash.
- Brush egg wash over the dough and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
Notes
Ensure water temperature is right to activate yeast.
Give dough enough time to rise for a fluffy loaf.
Do not skip the egg wash for a beautiful finish.
