- 1 pound fresh green beans (haricots verts), trimmed
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped and smashed into a paste
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of water, adding salt.
- Prepare an ice water bath in a bowl.
- Cook the green beans in boiling water for about 4 minutes.
- Transfer beans to the ice water bath, cool, and drain.
- Toast the sliced almonds in a small sauté pan over medium heat.
- Melt butter in a large sauté pan, add garlic, and soften.
- Toss in cool green beans, coat in butter, and heat through for about 2 minutes.
- Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste.
Notes
Choose fresh green beans for the best flavor and texture.
Avoid overcooking the beans; aim for an al dente finish.
Keep a close watch on the almonds while toasting to prevent burning.
